Investment Comparison by Country

The United States still leads with approximately $4 billion in annual total investment, of which the DOE's Fusion Energy Sciences program accounts for about $1 billion, with the remainder coming from VC-backed startups. China shows the fastest growth, with an annual budget of approximately $2.5 billion and rising rapidly. Europe invests a combined total of about $2 billion through the EUROfusion consortium and the UK's STEP program. Japan and South Korea each maintain investment at the $0.5-1 billion level.

Key Milestones
